EnerPHit is the standard issued by the Passivhaus Institute that focuses on retrofit projects.
Significant Energy and CO2 savings of between 75 and 90% can be achieved
It is not always possible to achieve Passivhaus Standard (new buildings) for the
refurbishment of old buildings. For this reason the Passivhaus Institute developed
the "EnerPHit – quality-approved energy retrofit with Passivhaus components" certificate. It
sets a slightly different standard requirement to the full Passivhaus standard.
As older buildings and homes use even more energy than the average new construction,
they offer even greater potential for energy savings and consequential saving in CO2
Each home and building is unique and poses its specific problems and solutions to reduce
carbon emission, improve energy efficiency and ultimately achieve greater energy security.
